The Joker’s WhySoSerious website has been updated, with a checklist of things the clown has done and still needs to do. Left on the list are: 12. Be good to my guests, 13. Gather all my fans, and 14. Leave a big mark. So there’s more viral stuff to come in the next few weeks leading up to the release. There are also a bunch of links to different things that have happened in this ad campaign, in case you’ve missed out. A new Jokerized poster has also been released, which is very cool. Click on the thumbnail to see the whole thing in hi res. more updates as they come.

Johnny Depp as Dillinger photos
It’s been a little while since we’ve heard much about the upcoming film Public Enemies, starring Johnny Depp as John Dillinger and Christian Bale as FBI agent Melvin Purvis. I have a feeling it’s going to be one of the bigger films next summer. Collider.com has scored some exclusive behind-the-scenes shots of Johnny Depp dressed in one of his period outfits. Once again, he proves he can wear anything and look ridiculously cool. Check out the pictures over here.

new Dark Knight trailer
Domino’s Pizza is doing a promotion for The Dark Knight and they have a site set up, which includes a new trailer. I haven’t watched it yet, even though I’ve heard there isn’t much new in it. Still, I’ve had all I want to see for now. In 18 days I’m going to be watching this film, and I don’t need to see anything else from it until I’m in that theater seat. Most likely this new trailer won’t give anything away, so check it out if you want, and head to the site for a better look at the trailer and a chance to win some prizes.

new James Bond trailer
I still haven’t seen Casino Royale, but I hear it did all the right things to reinvent James Bond and move away from the gimmicky parody it had become. The next film in the series, titled Quantum of Solace, hits theaters November 7th, and looks like it will be pretty good. Moviefone has the first trailer in hi-def right here, or you can check it out below.

weekend box office 6/30
The big surprise this weekend isn’t that WALL-E took the top spot, it’s that Wanted wasn’t very far being. WALL-E opened with an impressive $63 million, which is the third best opening for a Pixar film. Word-of-mouth is great, as is the film, so look for it to have a strong run. Wanted did better than expected, pulling in $50.9 million for second place, and the seventh-best R-rated opening ever. Get Smart slipped to third place, but still pulled in a healthy $20.2 million. Kung Fu Panda continued its push to $200 million with another $11.6 million and fourth place. The Incredible Hulk still trails its predecessor, but snagged the fifth spot with $9.5 million. Full weekend chart at Box Office Mojo.

The Tale of Despereaux trailer
Another new animated trailer, this time from The Tale of Despereaux, a film based on the book by Kate DiCamillo. According to IMDB, it’s ‘the tale of three unlikely heroes - a misfit mouse who prefers reading books to eating them, an unhappy rat who schemes to leave the darkness of the dungeon, and a bumbling servant girl with cauliflower ears - whose fates are intertwined with that of the castle’s princess’. Matthew Broderick, Dustin Hoffman, Emma Watson, and many others lend their voices to this film, due for release December 19. Yahoo has the trailer, or check it out below.

Disney’s Bolt trailer
If you’ve seen WALL-E already, you know that there’s no trailer for Pixar’s next film, Up. However, there is a trailer for Disney’s next computer animated film, Bolt. Empire Magazine has gotten their hands on the trailer, and thanks to Keanan for pointing it out to me, you can view it below. It looks fun. The hamster looks like it will be a really enjoyable character, and overall I think it’ll be a good film, and another step in the right direction for Disney Animation.

New to Theaters 6/27
I’ve been looking forward to today for a long time, in fact, other than The Dark Knight, WALL-E has been the film I’ve most been looking forward to this summer. The reviews have been overwhelmingly positive, with only two attention-needing ‘critics’ giving it a negative review. (That may sound harsh, and I respect everyone having their own opinion, but if you read their reviews it’s pretty apparent they have a personal bias against Pixar.) So here’s hoping it makes a killing at the box office. Wanted has been generating some really good buzz and reviews as well, so it will be interesting to see how these films do this weekend. But the R rating will definitely limit Wanted’s money-making ability.
WALL-E is the tale of the last trash-compacting robot left on earth, who develops a personality, and soon discovers what his purpose really is. Rated G
Wanted is the story of a nobody who learns he is the son of a great assassin, and that he is destined to join that world. Rated R for strong bloody violence throughout, pervasive language and some sexuality.

G.I. Joe posters and a subtitle

Movie site Film1.nl has taken some photos of new G.I. Joe posters at the Cinema EXPO trade show in Amsterdam. The one-sheets feature Duke, Baroness, and Snake Eyes. The posters also feature a new subtitle for the film, which will be called G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra. Sounds like they’re definitely going to try to make a franchise out of it. If this movie can be a hit with the same audience that made Transformers successful, it shouldn’t be a problem at all. Click on the thumbnails for a better look.

Though I don’t play many video games, I’m looking forward to this one. It’s an interesting idea, and I wonder what kind of a story they’ve come up with to meld these two very different worlds. The official site of the game, WorldsCollide.com, has been updated, with some character and environment renders. We get a look at Superman, Batman, Scorpion, and Sub-Zero. The MK characters look cool, and Supes looks all right, but I really like what they’ve done with Batman. They’ve kept the traditional suit but made it look more armored. Pretty cool. An interesting note about the game - apparently there will be ‘modified’ fatalities. The violence and blood will be somewhat toned down, according to MK co-creator Ed Boon via GameTap. It looks like you probably won’t be able to rip Superman’s head off after giving him a beating. Click on the thumbnails for much bigger looks.

I’m trying to avoid any new stuff from The Dark Knight, but new stills and videos keep popping up. Today, Fimofilia has eight new images from the film. None are very spoilery, but one in particular is awesome. (the third one over. Click to view the clear image.) It’s hard to believe we’re less than four weeks from opening day. Click on the thumbnails to view bigger, and head here to see some more.

SlashFilm has an awesome gallery of a bunch of Pixar posters done by artist Eric Tan. There’s retro style posters from The Incredibles, Ratatouille, and the upcoming Wall-E. They’re all gorgeous, and you can actually buy some of them from ACME Direct, if you have plenty of money anyway. Click on the thumbnails to view bigger, but make sure you click through to SlashFilm to see the rest.

weekend box office 6/23
Get Smart took the top spot this weekend, earning a pretty impressive $38.6 million. I’m glad I waited to write this until the actuals came out, as the studio estimates had the number two and three spots reversed. The Incredible Hulk actually snagged the second spot, with $22.1 million. Kung-Fu Panda followed closely behind with $21.9 million. The Love Guru couldn’t overcome horrible reviews, earning just $13.9 million for a fourth place finish. The Happening brought in $10.4 million to earn the fifth spot. Iron Man brought in another $4 million and became the first film of the year to cross the $300 million mark. Full weekend chart at Box Office Mojo.

Presto clip
A quick clip from Pixar’s latest short film Presto was shown on TV the other day, and someone has been nice enough to put it up on YouTube. I’ve talked to some people who’ve seen it and they love it. It sounds like it will be a perfect lead-in to Wall-e. It’s got a great cartoony feel to it, which is nice to see. Check it out below, and thanks to CartoonBrew for the heads up.
