Warner Brothers will be bringing the classic manga Akira to theaters in two parts starting next summer. The six-part dystopian story by Katsuhiro Otomo is considered one of the gold standards of manga, and the 1988 animated version is also a classic of anime, so the films have their work cut out for them. Irish director Ruairi Robinson, whose short film Fifty Percent Grey was nominated for an Academy Award, will be making his feature debut with the project. No cast is involved yet, but Leonardo DiCaprio is on board as a producer. More at Variety.
