I have a few friends working on Pixar’s next film, and they’re really excited about it. Next summer’s film is called Up, and it’s about a 78-year-old man named Carl Fredrickson. To escape being taken to an old folks home, Carl uses a bunch of balloons attached to his house to float away. Without giving away too much, he’s joined on his adventure by a nine-year-old wilderness explorer named Russell, and heads down to South America to visit Paradise Falls. Director Pete Docter last helmed Monster’s Inc, so this film is in very good hands. It looks to be Pixar’s most unconventional film to date, more along the lines of a Miyazaki film. I’m excited. The first trailer is set to debut with Bolt this November, and the film comes out next May. Until then, we get this glimpse of the balloon house and Carl. Enjoy.
